How do I understand a positive ovulation test?
We started using ovulation tests to maximize our chances of pregnancy, but how do we recognize a positive result and when should we stop using them?
In One Step ovulation tests (strips, midstream, or cassette with lines), a positive result occurs when there are 2 lines where the second line (test line) is as dark or darker than the first line (control line) – see photo below –.

This happens because the LH hormone they detect is generally present in the body, but when we are close to ovulation, it rises significantly until it reaches its peak (indicating a positive result), marking our maximum fertile window, which is also reflected in the intensity of the line.
In Clearblue ovulation tests (digital), the positive result is displayed as a smiling face – see photo below –.
